(Red Wing, MN - August 9, 2009) With fingers crossed, organizers of this inaugural event hoped to draw 100 participants, which is what they needed to cover costs with a little left over for their beneficiaries. Despite sharing the weekend with Turtleman, Green Lake, Northwoods and Deephaven Days, however, Wingman managed to pull more than 150 entrants.Leading the way were Wade Bergner of Maiden Rock, WI and St. Louis Park's Shelley Nelson. Bergner, a former St. Paul Olympic and Tri America-St. Paul winner, covered the 500m (pool)-12.7 - 3 course in 1:03:10. For Nelson, it was her 3rd win of the 2009 season. She was clocked in 1:06:53.
